CBFC Cuts Scenes from 'O'Romeo', Leaves This

The Central Board of Film Certification has made cuts to Shahid Kapoor's film 'O'Romeo', trimming violent scenes while keeping romantic elements intact before its release.

The film 'O'Romeo', starring Shahid Kapoor and Tripti Dimri, is set to be released in theaters on February 13. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie received an 'A' (Adults Only) rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), marking it as Shahid's second film to receive such a restrictive certification, after 'Kabir Singh'. Before the film received its certification clearance, the CBFC directed the filmmakers to make several changes to the dialogues, such as replacing the word 'item' with 'kumari.' A specific term was muted in one sequence, and another inappropriate term was completely removed. Notably, the romantic and intimate scenes were not modified, and there were no visual cuts to those parts of the film. However, some violent visuals were edited; for instance, a close-up shot of throat cutting was reduced by 20%, which amounts to approximately three seconds. Additional shots were also trimmed by two seconds each, including one that contained blood. These modifications emphasize the ongoing scrutiny and regulatory standards imposed by the CBFC on films to ensure they meet specific guidelines for audience suitability.
