A 22-year-old woman was arrested in Camaragibe, Brazil, for drug trafficking after receiving a package containing 470 vape cartridges filled with liquid THC concealed in a water cooler.
A 22-year-old woman in Camaragibe, located in the Grande Recife area, was apprehended for interstate drug trafficking during a joint operation conducted by the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service. The authorities discovered 470 electronic cigarette cartridges, known as vape cartridges, containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a liquid form of marijuana, cleverly concealed within a water cooler. The operation investigated the shipment which was reportedly sent from a sender in southern Brazil and produced in California, USA.
The vape cartridges were found in 47 boxes, each containing 10 cartridges, designed to appear empty to evade detection, thus allowing them to be filled later with THC. This method of concealment is not only illegal but also reflects the evolving tactics of drug smugglers who attempt to mix legitimate goods with contraband. The young woman was arrested when she received the package at her residence on the night of Tuesday, October 10.
Authorities revealed that the womanβs identity has not been disclosed, and she could face significant legal consequences for her actions. The case exemplifies ongoing challenges in combating drug trafficking and demonstrates the innovative methods employed by traffickers to navigate law enforcement measures, highlighting the need for continued vigilance and collaborative efforts among law enforcement agencies.
