Sweden has announced it will deploy JAS Gripen fighter jets to participate in NATO's Arctic Sentry operation, which aims to bolster defense capabilities in the Arctic region. According to the Swedish government, these jets will specifically conduct missions around Iceland and Greenland. The deployment is a continuation of Sweden's past commitments, having previously sent JAS 39 Gripen aircraft to Iceland for airspace monitoring under NATO's leadership.
