Cops fear 1m abuse images nursery monster Vincent Chan preyed on more victims

Police are concerned that Vincent Chan, a convicted nursery worker and primary school teacher, may have more victims than the identified 20 who were abused over a 17-year period.

Vincent Chan, a 45-year-old nursery worker, has been jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of a prolonged campaign of sexual abuse involving young girls, including those as young as two. Over a 17-year period, he abused his position of trust as both a primary school teacher and a nursery worker, preyed on vulnerable children, and is reported to have filmed numerous incidents of his abuse. Authorities have unearthed over a million child abuse images linked to Chan, indicating the possible existence of many more victims that have yet to be identified.

Chan's chilling actions include secretly filming girls during nap times and while they were at school, taking advantage of their innocence and inability to defend themselves. The judge overseeing the case condemned him as "utterly wicked, perverse and depraved," emphasizing the gravity of Chan's offenses and the considerable emotional and psychological harm inflicted on the victims. The police are now launching further investigations to ascertain the full extent of his abuse and whether any more victims can be uncovered.

This case has sparked concern among the community and advocates for child protection, highlighting the vulnerabilities of children in educational settings. The fear of more undiscovered victims raises significant alarm regarding the measures in place to protect children from such predatory behavior and the need for more stringent oversight of individuals in positions of trust with young children. The impact of this case extends beyond Chan's immediate sentencing, calling for a reevaluation of child safeguarding protocols.
