Ceará military police officers arrested for shooting attack on councilwoman's house in RN

Two military police officers from Ceará were arrested for their involvement in a shooting attack on the house of a councilwoman in Caraúbas, Rio Grande do Norte.

Two military police officers from Ceará were arrested on October 12 in Mossoró, suspected of participating in a shooting attack on the house of a local councilwoman, Francisca Leite de Medeiros Alves, also known as Titica de Lúcio. The attack occurred in the early hours of October 6, 2025, when two men on a motorcycle fired more than 15 shots at the front of the councilwoman's home while she was inside with her family. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, and the councilwoman later reported the attack to the police.

The attack left visible damage on the gate and glass door of the councilwoman's medical office located next to her residence. The case was captured by security cameras, which provided crucial evidence for the police's investigation. The Civil Police of Rio Grande do Norte were quick to act in identifying the suspects and confirming their affiliations as members of the military police from Ceará, raising concerns about the behavior of police officers and their involvement in criminal activities.

This incident not only highlights the challenges of policing in Brazil—especially regarding the integrity of its own officers—but it also stresses the need for thorough investigations and accountability within police forces. The arrest of these officers may serve as a pivotal moment in restoring public trust in law enforcement in the region, particularly amidst ongoing discussions about police violence and corruption in Brazil.
