The victim, who had gone to meet a male friend in Epe, communicated to her sister that she had arrived and was drinking, but later claimed to be locked in a room, fearing for her life. The sequence of her calls paints a troubling picture of her situation, prompting her family to raise alarms about her welfare.

Following her disappearance, the family noted the delayed response from law enforcement. Investigations commenced only days later, leading to the arrest of a prime suspect on November 26, 2025. However, inconsistencies in the suspect's statements have compounded the family's anxiety, as initially, he claimed ignorance of her whereabouts, later asserting that she had left unharmed, and subsequently suggesting that she was involved in a fatal road accident. Such shifting narratives have raised suspicions regarding the suspect's involvement in her disappearance.
