The Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna left his tablet on an airplane, but the Foreign Ministry, through media advisor Kerstin Meresma, has stated that it does not see any security threat stemming from this incident. The device was used solely for note-taking and did not contain sensitive information, aligning with the Ministry's protocol that mobile devices do not access classified material.

Meresma explained that due to the nature of the Ministry's work and the frequent travel of diplomats, such incidents of losing or temporarily misplacing devices occasionally happen due to human error. This acknowledgment indicates a recognition of the operational challenges faced by personnel working in sensitive environments. Furthermore, she assured that, should any information carrier be lost, it must be reported immediately to the Ministry's information security department, which in this case was promptly executed by Minister Tsahkna.

The Ministry is equipped with robust security measures; Meresma highlighted that the hard drives of their devices are encrypted and can be managed remotely. This suggests a commitment to ensuring the integrity of sensitive information even in the face of potential lapses, thereby reinforcing the Ministry's emphasis on maintaining a high standard of information security in its operations.
