Pharmaceutical Industry: Merck CEO Garijo transfers to Sanofi

The French pharmaceutical company Sanofi unexpectedly replaces its CEO with Belén Garijo, previously at Merck, following Paul Hudson's departure.

Sanofi has made a surprising leadership change by appointing Belén Garijo, the current CEO of Merck, as its new CEO, replacing Paul Hudson, who will step down on February 17. Hudson's contract will not be renewed, and Garijo is expected to take over after Sanofi's annual general meeting in late April. Meanwhile, Olivier Charmeil will serve as interim CEO until Garijo's official start.
