Due to frozen water pipes, residents of Vilkaviškis will have access to free shower services at the local sports center.
The Vilkaviškis district municipality has announced that due to frozen water supply pipes in certain streets of the city, measures are being taken to ensure necessary hygiene needs for residents. As part of these measures, the municipality will provide free shower services at the Vilkaviškis Sports Center for residents affected by the water outages. This service will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
The initiative aims to assist those living in areas where the water supply has completely frozen, significantly impacting their daily hygiene practices. Residents utilizing the service will receive special free coupons upon arrival at the sports center, which will begin operating this Thursday. The mayor, A. Neiberka, noted that many residents have reached out to the municipality regarding the water issues, prompting the implementation of this support initiative.
This response from the local government not only addresses immediate health concerns arising from the lack of accessible water but also highlights the broader implications of winter weather on public infrastructure. It demonstrates the municipality's commitment to supporting its residents in times of crisis, ensuring that essential services are still provided despite challenging conditions.
