A new theatrical production exploring the life of Ioannis Kapodistrias incorporates a book and original songs, set to be performed in Nafplio in August 2025.
The theater production titled 'Ove Vai Conte Nano? Ove vai?' directed by Theodoros Gonis delves into the life of Ioannis Kapodistrias, who was fondly nicknamed 'Count Nano.' This project is part of the cultural events organized by the Greek Ministry of Culture, showcasing the heritage and significance of Kapodistrias, who played a key role in Greeceβs history. The production is set to take place in August 2025 at the Palamidi fortress during the 2nd AcroNafplia Festival, emphasizing local cultural revival.
In conjunction with the theatrical release, a new publication featuring the script written by the acclaimed lyricist and director Theodoros Gonis will be launched. The script draws upon authentic writings and dialogues from Kapodistriasβs era, including works by notable historians such as Nikolaos Dragoumis and Georgios Tertsetis. This approach highlights the connection between historical facts and artistic expression, inviting audiences to engage with Greece's rich narrative during a pivotal period.
The inclusion of five original songs enhances the performance, illustrating the emotional and cultural landscape of the time. The songs will be available digitally, enhancing accessibility to a broader audience and ensuring that the historical themes resonate with contemporary listeners. This initiative aims not only to entertain but also to educate the public about the complexities of Greek history through various artistic mediums.
