Inmet warns of intense rains in the Valley and region this Thursday (12) and Friday (13) before Carnival

The Brazilian National Meteorology Institute has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and winds for the Vale do Paraíba and the Bragantina region ahead of Carnival.

The Brazilian National Meteorology Institute (Inmet) has issued a yellow alert on Wednesday, warning of the risks of intense rains and winds reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h across the Vale do Paraíba and Bragantina region. This alert is effective from 00:01 on Thursday (12) until 23:59 on Friday (13), coinciding with the pre-Carnival period. The agency predicts possible rainfall amounts of up to 30 millimeters per hour, with total accumulations reaching as much as 50 millimeters throughout the day.

As part of the warning, Inmet indicated that there are also risks of high winds, which may vary between 40 and 60 km/h, and the potential for hail. Fortunately, the agency assessed the risks for power outages, damage to crops, fallen tree branches, and flooding as low. However, due to the possibility of lightning strikes and falling branches during gusty winds, Inmet advises the public not to seek shelter under trees during the storm.
