'You are smart, leave your husband...,' a police officer falls in love with the complainant woman and issued threats

A police officer in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, faces allegations of misconduct after reportedly falling in love with a complainant woman during an investigation and threatening her husband.

In Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, a police officer has landed in controversy after allegedly developing romantic feelings for a woman he was supposed to assist during a family dispute investigation. According to reports, the officer, Akhilesh Yadav, visited the woman's home for an inquiry. During the investigation, he reportedly became infatuated with her and started expressing his feelings, which raised serious concerns about his professional integrity and the potential misuse of his authority. The woman's husband has claimed that the officer promised to help his wife secure a job in exchange for her affection and has been secretly communicating with her through phone calls when he was not present. This situation escalated after audio recordings and call details were leaked, which prompted the husband to confront the officer. In response, the officer allegedly threatened to frame the husband in false cases, including robbery and drug trafficking, highlighting the severe abuse of power by a representative of law enforcement. Following the husband's complaint, Barabanki Superintendent of Police, Arpit Vijayvargiya, ordered an investigation into the matter. As of now, the accused officer has taken leave from duty and has denied all allegations, claiming that they are baseless. This incident has raised significant questions about the integrity of the Uttar Pradesh police, famously referred to as 'Mitra Police' (Friendly Police), reinforcing the need for accountability and ethical standards in the police force.
