Respect for the Constitution Task Force: The December 3 Martial Law was 'Insurrection from Above'... Multiple Actions Justified After Its Lifting Confirmed
The Respect for the Constitution Task Force confirmed that the December 3 martial law was an act of 'insurrection from above', highlighting continued illegal actions after its lifting.
On December 12, the Respect for the Constitution Task Force (TF) announced its findings regarding the December 3 martial law, which it characterized as 'insurrection from above'. The TF was established to investigate the involvement of public officials and military personnel in unlawful activities during the martial law, indicating that numerous actions intended to maintain the martial law continued even after the National Assembly voted for its repeal. This confirmation of misconduct led to calls for disciplinary actions and investigations against several officials involved.
The government announced that the TF's investigation revealed that the illegal martial law had a comprehensive execution plan aimed at mobilizing the entire functions of the government. The TF pointed out that, following the declaration of the illegal martial law, directives connected to the specific functions of various government agencies were issued simultaneously, and attempts to maintain the unlawful martial law persisted even after the National Assembly's recommendations for its repeal. Furthermore, actions taken to justify the martial law after it was lifted were also confirmed, emphasizing a significant failure in the administration's role to uphold constitutional and legal integrity.
As a result, the government has initiated follow-up measures based on the TF's results, including 89 disciplinary requests directed at senior officials, 82 warnings, and 110 requests for investigations. These actions target various sectors, including military, police, and foreign affairs, revealing the extent of accountability being sought in light of the findings. The report underscores the critical need to enforce constitutional adherence and prevent future violations by high-ranking officials in positions of authority.
