TalTech basketball team reaches the playoffs in the Euro series after winning a decisive game abroad
The TalTech basketball team secured their place in the playoffs of the Euro North Basketball League after defeating the Bristol Flyers in a closely contested match.
The TalTech basketball team, known as TalTech Alexela, traveled to England with the understanding that victory against the Bristol Flyers would propel them further in the North European Basketball League (ENBL). The match unfolded with both teams displaying equal strength, never allowing either to gain a lead of more than seven points throughout the game. It was only in the final moments that TalTech managed to pull ahead, turning a tied score of 64:64 into a victory of 76:70 in the last three minutes.
Key players for TalTech included Oliver Metsalu, who shone with an impressive performance of 22 points and 11 rebounds, alongside Tormi Niits contributing 14 points, and both Taavi Jurkatamm and Oliver Suurorg scoring 11 points each. The team, under coach Alar Varrak, finished the main tournament with a record of four wins from eight games. Despite being grouped into three sub-divisions at the season's start, the final standings allowed the top 16 teams to advance to the playoffs, with TalTech securing the 15th position.
In the upcoming round of the playoffs, TalTech will face Thessaloniki Iraklis, who concluded the main tournament in second place with just one loss. The playoffs are set to be a single-game elimination round, with the game being hosted at the higher seed's home court, heightening the stakes as TalTech aims to continue their successful run in the ENBL playoffs.
