Avimukteshwaranand Angered by Allegations of Sexual Exploitation, Says Government is Afraid
Swami Avimukteshwaranand Maharaj has refuted sexual harassment allegations made against him and claimed government motivations behind the accusations.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand Maharaj, the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth, addressed allegations of sexual exploitation made by Ashutosh Brahmachari at a religious assembly in Varanasi. Ashutosh has filed a petition in court claiming that the Shankaracharya's camps exploit young Vedic scholars. In response, the Shankaracharya vehemently denied these accusations, asserting that he has provided evidence of his innocence to the court. He alleges that the controversy is intended to tarnish his reputation and undermine efforts related to cow protection activism.
The Shankaracharya directly criticized the government, stating that it is fearful of the cow protection movement, which he is leading. He claims that efforts are being made by a 'cartel' to attack his character and intimidate his followers. He argued that his dedication to cow protection is the root cause of these accusations, and he sees them as politically motivated actions aimed at discrediting him and his supporters in the movement. Swami Avimukteshwaranand urged the Chief Minister to declare cows as 'state mothers' and to completely ban the trade of cow meat.
Furthermore, he mentioned preparations for action against those who falsely accuse under the provisions of the POCSO Act, suggesting a serious stance on maintaining his reputation and addressing what he perceives as a threat posed by the government to his socio-political initiatives. The allegation thus stands at a crucial intersection of religious advocacy and political tension, reflecting broader societal debates in India regarding cow protection and individual rights.
