Democratic Party criticizes Jang Dong-hyeok for notifying about absence from luncheon with President Lee one hour prior
Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae condemned National Power's Jang Dong-hyeok for announcing his absence from a luncheon with President Lee, citing it as disrespectful to the electorate.
On December 12, Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae expressed strong criticism towards the representative of the National Power, Jang Dong-hyeok, for informing about his absence from a scheduled luncheon with President Lee just an hour before it was set to take place. Jeong argued that disrespect towards the President is a disrespect towards the citizens who elected him, highlighting the importance of political courtesy.
During a party meeting at the National Assembly, Jeong asserted that the National Power had initially requested the luncheon, and he found it unacceptable to back out with only an hourβs notice, alleging it was an unreasonable excuse. He emphasized that such behavior should not be repeated in the future, calling it a significant breach of etiquette.
In response to the legislative issues at hand, Jang had previously criticized the passage of various judicial reform bills in the National Assembly, which led to his decision to cancel his participation in the luncheon. The National Power is now considering whether to boycott the upcoming session, reflecting a growing tension surrounding legislative agendas. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party plans to proceed with discussions on 81 proposed livelihood bills in the Assembly, regardless of the opposition's attendance.
