Aktor - Suez MoU in Water Management

Aktor and French company Suez have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on water management projects in Greece, focusing particularly on drought mitigation.

The Aktor Group and the French company Suez have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly address water management issues in Greece, particularly as the country faces challenges related to drought. This partnership aligns with a broader initiative to tackle water scarcity through investment in critical infrastructure. The Hellenic Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP) is set to launch various projects with a total investment of โ‚ฌ2.34 billion as part of its ten-year plan for 2025 to 2035, which includes enhancements in water supply and sewerage systems throughout Attica.

In addition to the general investment program, significant projects like the "Evrytus" initiative are currently under study, which aims to transport water to the Athens basin from the Krikeliotis and Karpenisiotis rivers. With a projected cost of โ‚ฌ535 million, this project is crucial for ensuring the water supply needs of Attica for the next 30 years. The government anticipates that this initiative will be put out to tender in the fourth quarter of 2026, demonstrating a strategic approach to long-term water resource management in the region.

The potential collaboration between Aktor and Suez could extend to various public-private partnership projects (PPP) focusing on water supply and irrigation across Greece. This includes several projects outlined by the Ministry of Infrastructure, showcasing the importance of public and private sectors working together to enhance the countryโ€™s water management capabilities amidst growing challenges posed by climate change and population growth.
