Lagos content creator accuses man of rape at fake modelling shoot
A Lagos content creator alleges rape after being lured to a fake modeling shoot in Ajao Estate.
A Lagos-based content creator known as Fems Thrift has come forward with serious allegations of rape that occurred after she was lured to a fake modeling shoot in the Ajao Estate area. In a TikTok video shared recently, Fems recounted how she was contacted by a man claiming to have moved back from the UK to start an international fashion brand. He offered her a lucrative modeling job, promising to pay N140,000 and suggested that she bring along her friend for safety, which she did.
On the day of the alleged incident, Fems and her friend arrived at what they believed was a legitimate modeling shoot only to find circumstances suspicious. The apartment did not have the expected crew personnel, including a make-up artist or support staff, raising alarms about the authenticity of the shoot. Fems described the terrifying moments that followed, as what was supposed to be a professional opportunity instead turned into a nightmare.
This case highlights the dangers that young women face in the modeling and content creation industry, particularly in Nigeria, where false promises can lead to serious criminal encounters. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for greater awareness and safety measures in such environments, as many aspiring models may be unaware of the risks involved when approached by individuals claiming to represent established brands. The allegations have sparked discussions around the issue of consent and the monitoring of modelling agencies to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
