‘Silver Medal’ Kim Sang-gyeom shows his affectionate side to his wife, telling her 'Don't cry'
Kim Sang-gyeom, who won a silver medal after his fourth Olympic attempt, expressed his loving support for his wife during a TV interview upon his return to Korea.
Kim Sang-gyeom, at 37 years old, achieved his first Olympic medal by winning silver in the men's parallel giant slalom at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, marking a significant achievement for the South Korean Olympic team as it is their first medal in the current games and the 400th overall for Korea in Olympic history. This accomplishment is particularly noteworthy as it is only the second medal in ski and snowboard events for Korea since 2018.
During a broadcast interview on JTBC after returning home, Kim reflected on the emotional journey he had with his wife, Park Han-sol, as they celebrated the medal together. Expressing his excitement, he described performing a bow to Korean fans on the podium, which he had dreamt of doing for a long time. He set his sights on future competitions, specifically aiming for a gold medal in the next Olympics and a strong performance in upcoming world championships, hinting at a belief that he is just at the outset of his most competitive phase.
Kim's loving support was evident as he comforted his wife, who became emotional during the interview, reminding her not to cry. Park shared that the outpouring of public support brought her to tears, highlighting the deep bond they share, which has been strengthened through their journey together. She recounted her unique way of supporting him during competitions, emphasizing the spiritual aspect of her presence at the events while reflecting on their life as a couple since their marriage earlier in 2023.
