LASG unveils housing estate on Lagos Island

The Lagos State Government has launched the Adeniji Adele Housing Estate Phase 1 on Lagos Island to provide affordable housing and improve living conditions.

The Lagos State Government has initiated the construction of the Adeniji Adele Housing Estate Phase 1, located in Anikantamo on Lagos Island. This project is spearheaded by the Office of Urban Development in collaboration with the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA). The housing estate aims to provide affordable housing solutions and enhance the living standards of citizens in the region. The foundation-laying ceremony marked a significant step in the state government's ongoing efforts to address housing shortages, particularly in urban areas.

Developed with modern amenities and infrastructure, the Adeniji Adele Housing Estate is designed to set a benchmark for future urban projects across Lagos State. The project's officials indicated that it will not only cater to the displaced residents of Dolphin Estate but will also attract a new demographic seeking quality housing. Key stakeholders, including the Lagos State Building Investment Company, are actively involved in ensuring the project meets high standards of urban development while also fulfilling social objectives.

Dr. Olajide Babatunde, the Special Adviser on E-GIS and Urban Development, highlighted the critical role of public-private partnerships in achieving the state's urban development goals. He underscored that collaborative efforts are essential to constructing sustainable housing solutions that can ultimately improve the urban landscape in Lagos. The redevelopment of housing for displaced residents, expected to be completed by December, indicates a proactive approach by the state government to address social disruptions caused by urban changes, thereby fostering community stability and growth.
