Carnival 2026: more than 57,000 people are expected to pass through Belém airport

Over 57,000 travelers are anticipated to pass through Belém's International Airport during Carnival festivities from February 13 to 18, 2026.

The International Airport of Belém is preparing for a surge in passenger traffic during the Carnival festivities, projecting over 57,000 travelers between February 13 and 18, 2026. This increase is attributed to the expectation of 461 domestic and international flights, reflecting an 8% rise in customer flow and a 4% increase in flight frequency when compared to the previous year. In the 2025 Carnival holiday, the airport managed to accommodate approximately 52,800 passengers across 443 flights, highlighting its significant role during peak travel periods.

The North of Amazon Airports (NOA), the managing body of the airport, noted a notable 31% increase in international passenger numbers compared to the same period last year, signaling a robust recovery in travel demand following recent disruptions. This growth in international flights is also influenced by the introduction of new flight routes by airlines such as GOL and Avianca, connecting Belém to Miami, USA, and other international destinations, which is expected to further enhance the airport's connectivity.

As Carnival approaches, Belém's International Airport is not only focusing on logistical preparations but also on modernization projects aimed at improving the passenger experience. Such initiatives are crucial for accommodating the expected increase in passengers and maintaining service standards during one of Brazil's most significant cultural events, reflecting the importance of infrastructure in supporting tourism and local economies during peak travel seasons.
