Sergio Lapegüe, a prominent journalist from Argentina, reacted with anger following a violent robbery that occurred at his mother Elba Palermo's home. The incident took place around 3:45 PM on Wednesday, February 11, when Elba, who is 90 years old and suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was at home accompanied by her caregivers. Three assailants invaded the house and blindfolded Elba while forcing one of the caregivers to search for money and valuable items.

The intruders stayed at the residence for approximately 50 minutes and reportedly stole a total of 50,000 pesos. Footage taken by Lapegüe himself as he arrived at the scene shows the aftermath of the crime, with the home in disarray. One of the caregivers can be heard crying in the video, expressing despair at the devastation, while Lapegüe, visibly upset, remarked about the extensive ransacking and destruction that occurred in his mother's house.
