Man dies after being stabbed and spending 10 days in hospital in PI; suspect arrested

Carlos Alexandre Alves da Silva, a 33-year-old man, tragically died on Wednesday after suffering from stab wounds and being hospitalized for 10 days at the Tibério Nunes Regional Hospital in Floriano. The stabbing occurred on February 2 in Barão de Grajaú, Maranhão, following a disagreement between Silva and another man. Luis Carlos, a lieutenant with the Military Police of Floriano, reported that the suspect attacked Silva with a knife during their argument.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, was apprehended the following day after he was located at the border between Barão de Grajaú and Floriano. Silva’s family had even launched a campaign to collect blood donations to assist him during his recovery. In light of Silva's death, the municipal government of Barão de Grajaú issued a statement expressing their condolences and highlighting the character of Silva, describing him as a beloved friend and a person of outstanding character.

The incident is currently under investigation by the local Civil Police as they work to uncover the details surrounding the altercation and the events that led up to the stabbing.
