ES surpasses SP and becomes the 2nd largest oil producer in the country

Espírito Santo has reclaimed its position as Brazil's second-largest oil producer, surpassing São Paulo.

After a six-year hiatus, the state of Espírito Santo has reclaimed its place as Brazil's second-largest oil producer, surpassing São Paulo, according to data from the National Petroleum Agency (ANP). Espírito Santo contributed 5.12% of the country's total oil production, with São Paulo producing 4.89% and Rio de Janeiro leading with a significant 87.8%. This shift in rankings marks a notable milestone for Espírito Santo, demonstrating its growing importance in Brazil's oil sector.

In the past year, Espírito Santo produced a total of 70.45 million barrels, reflecting a substantial 24.3% increase from the previous year's output of 56.65 million barrels. This boost in production highlights the state's enhanced capabilities and investments in the oil industry. Furthermore, Espírito Santo is home to one of the five most productive oil fields in Brazil—the Jubarte field, which averaged 152,000 barrels per day, accounting for 4.14% of national production.

The increased production in Espírito Santo not only reinforces its position in the national oil market but also underscores the competitive dynamics among Brazil's oil-producing states. The leading fields, including Tupi, Búzios, Mero, and Itapu, account for a large portion of Brazil’s oil output, collectively contributing to the country's significant status as a major oil producer internationally. As the state continues to enhance its production capabilities, it may impact future investments and the overall trajectory of Brazil's oil sector.
