Kaunas Žalgiris has signed a defender from Rosenborg

Kaunas Žalgiris has signed Luka Račičius, a defender previously with Norway's Rosenborg, to strengthen their squad.

Kaunas Žalgiris, a Lithuanian football club, has announced the signing of Luka Račičius, a 26-year-old dual citizen of Montenegro and Denmark, from the prominent Norwegian club Rosenborg. Račičius arrives in Kaunas after his contract ended at Rosenborg, where he had previously participated in UEFA Conference League qualifiers. The club is looking to enhance its defensive options after the previous season left them with only three central defenders, prompting the need for new talent to foster healthy competition amongst players.

Račičius brings a wealth of experience from his time with Rosenborg, where he played in Europe's competitive leagues, and from a loan at Danish club Lyngby. His background with the Copenhagen youth system and various Danish national teams at different age levels forms a solid foundation for his professional career. Club sports director Darius Šinkūnas expressed optimism that Račičius' arrival would elevate the quality of the team's defense and motivate existing players to improve further.

The addition of Račičius to Kaunas Žalgiris' roster is part of the club’s strategy to compete at both domestic and European levels, particularly as they seek success in the upcoming season. With his prior experience in top-flight football, Račičius is expected to bring both stability and skill to the team, as they prepare for formidable challenges ahead this season.
