Ritu Tawde, who recently became the 78th Mayor of Mumbai, addressed several critical issues in her first speech after taking office. Tawde pointed out that the footpaths have become less accessible for native Mumbaikars and taxpayers due to the presence of these hawkers.

In her address at the BMC General Body meeting, Tawde announced her plan to collaborate with the administration to tackle the hawkers' presence effectively. She indicated that a meeting with relevant departments would be held soon, and letters have already been sent to address the issue. The identification of illegal hawkers will involve verifying documents such as Aadhaar cards to ensure legitimate removals, showcasing a structured approach to the problem.

Additionally, Mayor Tawde expressed her commitment to strengthening health services for economically weaker patients by seeking additional funds. She urged organizations to reallocate budgets usually spent on honorarium ceremonies toward health services, reflecting her strategic focus on community welfare and efficient resource management as she begins her tenure.
