Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in a positive atmosphere to review the bilateral relations between the two countries. The leaders acknowledged that keeping channels of communication open is beneficial for both nations as well as for stability in the broader region. This meeting was part of the 6th Supreme Cooperation Council (SCC) between Greece and Turkey.

During this significant diplomatic meeting, seven agreements were signed, including a Joint Statement between the governments of Greece and Turkey, which reinforces their commitment to cooperation. Other notable agreements include a Memorandum of Understanding for cultural cooperation, a collaborative statement concerning the foreign ministries' work within the Organization of Economic Cooperation of the Black Sea, and initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral business connections between ‘Enterprise Greece’ and ‘Invest in Turkiye’. Additionally, they launched a joint program for collaboration in research and technology, along with a commitment to strengthen cooperation regarding emergency preparedness and response.

These agreements are a significant step towards improving relations between Greece and Turkey, which have historically been tense due to various political and territorial disputes. By agreeing on practical areas of cooperation, the two countries aim to foster a more stable and collaborative future, suggesting that a cautious optimism might be emerging in bilateral relations, which could benefit both nations and the wider region as they seek to enhance their strategic partnerships.
