"Premiere" with tension and fights in the inter-party committee for the primary sector
The first session of the inter-party committee on agriculture was marked by tensions and arguments, particularly involving political leader Zoë Konstantopoulou.
The inter-party committee for agriculture commenced its work today, but it was not without incidents of tension. Zoë Konstantopoulou, leader of the Pleisi Eleftherias party, openly clashed with the committee’s presidency and made pointed criticisms towards the opposition parties, targeting New Democracy, PASOK, and SYRIZA. This intense discourse also included a heated exchange with KKE member Nikos Karathanassopoulos, revealing deep political frictions.
Konstantopoulou accused the four involved parties of a "pre-negotiated" framework that she believed undermined genuine debate and transparency. She expressed her frustrations, asserting that while they appeared united in public engagements, behind the scenes, there were unacknowledged deals that marginalize true opposition voices. Her remarks suggested that some parties were more focused on maintaining power and influence rather than addressing farmers' needs and concerns.
As the session progressed, Konstantopoulou continued her criticisms, insinuating that the involvement of KKE in voting for New Democracy's vice-presidents was a betrayal to the true democratic process. She emphasized that they, as a party, had never engaged in backdoor dealings, highlighting the need for genuine representation and accountability in political discourse, particularly when it comes to vital sectors such as agriculture.
