36-year-old driver dies in accident on Dutra, in Jacareí
A 36-year-old man died in an accident on the Presidente Dutra highway in Jacareí, Brazil.
Luan Ribeiro Alves, a 36-year-old man, tragically lost his life in an accident on the Presidente Dutra highway during the early hours of Wednesday, October 11, in Jacareí. The incident occurred at kilometer 168 of the highway, which is heading towards Rio de Janeiro. According to the police report, the victim was found dead inside his car, which showed signs of impact and had sustained significant damage to its exterior.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Alves' vehicle likely collided with an object or possibly with a cargo vehicle that was in front of him prior to the crash, as indicated by the damage on the car’s body. After the initial collision, Alves' vehicle came to a stop on the roadway. A van traveling behind was able to swerve around the immobilized car, grazing its left side. The driver of the van has been interviewed and confirmed that he managed to avoid a more serious impact, noting that he found the victim's body inside the car, indicating a progression of events that could have been worse without swift evasive action.
This tragic accident emphasizes the dangers present on busy highways and raises concerns about road safety measures. It serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of caution and attentiveness while driving, particularly during late-night hours when visibility is reduced and the risk of accidents may increase.
