Quality of Services Provided by Traumatologists at Jēkabpils Regional Hospital to Be Evaluated

The Latvia Health Inspection will assess the quality of services provided by traumatologists at Jēkabpils Regional Hospital after concerns were raised about patient care.

The Health Inspection (VI) in Latvia has announced that it will evaluate the quality of services provided by the traumatology department at Jēkabpils Regional Hospital, following a report from the Traumatology and Orthopaedics Hospital (TOS) that raised serious concerns about the inadequacy of care for patients. In light of these issues, the operations of the traumatology department have been temporarily suspended, and two traumatologists have been placed on administrative leave pending the evaluation.

The suspension of services means that patients requiring emergency care for trauma will not be treated at Jēkabpils Regional Hospital, compelling them to seek medical assistance in hospitals located in other cities. This decision has significant implications for the local community, as timely access to trauma services is critical for patient outcomes.

Jēkabpils Regional Hospital is set to conduct its own internal investigation regarding the cases mentioned in TOS's report, in conjunction with the independent evaluation by the Health Inspection. The hospital's management, including board chairman Ervīns, has pledged to cooperate fully with the investigation to ensure public trust and quality of care in their services.
