A suspect in the Operation Paper Boat threw a bag of money out of a window during a police raid in Balneário Camboriú, Brazil, resulting in the seizure of R$ 429,000 in cash.

During a police operation in Balneário Camboriú, Brazil, one of the targets of Operation Paper Boat discarded a bag containing R$ 429,000 in cash out of a window as Federal Police agents arrived for a search and seizure. This incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, November 11, and was confirmed by the participating law enforcement officers. Alongside the cash, authorities also seized two luxury vehicles and two smartphones from the location.

The operation aims to investigate alleged financial crimes linked to investments at Banco Master, specifically involving funds from Rioprevidência, which manages retirement and pension funds for public servants in Rio de Janeiro state. The Federal Police’s press office indicated that the identities of those targeted in the operation would not be publicly disclosed to protect ongoing investigations. However, reports have revealed that Deivis Marcon Antunes, the former president of Rioprevidência, is among those targeted.

Antunes’ legal representatives have indicated that they are currently assessing the situation following the operation. The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding financial misconduct within public sector investment management, particularly the handling of pension funds, and raises questions about regulatory oversight and accountability within Brazil's financial systems.
