Finland's super promise made an amazing feat

Finnish ice hockey player Konsta Helenius has won the speed skating competition at the AHL All-Star Game.

Konsta Helenius, a young Finnish star in the Buffalo Sabres organization, achieved a remarkable victory in the AHL All-Star Game speed skating competition, clocking a time of 13.77 seconds around the rink. He edged out Cole McWard, finishing with a narrow margin of less than a tenth of a second. This performance highlights Helenius's talents and athleticism as he represents the Rochester Americans in this prestigious event.

The AHL All-Star festivities are taking place in Rockford, Illinois, with various skill competitions held on Tuesday, followed by All-Star games among four divisions on Wednesday. Helenius's selection as the only Finnish player in the event this year underscores his impressive season, during which he has recorded an impressive 34 points in 36 AHL games, contributing significantly to his team's efforts.

At just 19 years old, the Ylöjärvi native has also made brief appearances in the NHL, playing nine games for the Sabres and registering four points. Drafted 14th overall by Buffalo in the summer draft, Helenius’s rapid ascent in the hockey ranks suggests a promising future ahead, both at the AHL and NHL levels, making his achievements in the All-Star competition even more noteworthy.
