Awareness campaign for lung care
AstraZeneca has launched a strong initiative to promote lung health via an awareness campaign and collaborations with prominent health organizations in Greece.
AstraZeneca has announced the launch of a significant initiative aimed at promoting lung health, focusing on two main pillars: the awareness campaign "Think Simply" and the signing of three cooperation agreements with major medical associations in Greece. These include the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HSMO), the Hellenic Lung Cancer Society (HELCA), and the Hellenic Pneumonology Society (HPS). This initiative aims to enhance public awareness and medical knowledge surrounding lung health, particularly regarding the frequent coexistence of lung cancer and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which often goes unrecognized but critically affects patient diagnosis and care.
Dr. Petros Galanakis, the medical director of AstraZeneca Greece, emphasized that through this initiative, the company seeks to boost awareness for the early diagnosis of these two often co-existing conditions. Lung cancer and COPD have a significant relationship that, when properly understood, can lead to improved patient outcomes and management strategies. The initiative aims to ensure that health practitioners and the public are better informed about the signs and risks associated with these diseases, thereby leading to enhanced health interventions.
In collaborating with leading scientific societies, AstraZeneca aims to ensure that its actions will have a tangible and immediate impact on public health. By engaging with healthcare professionals and supporting educational efforts, the initiative hopes to change the current landscape of lung health care in Greece, making strides towards better diagnostic practices and treatment options for patients suffering from these intertwined conditions.
