Police investigate fatal crash just east of Calgary
A single-vehicle crash just east of Calgary resulted in one fatality, with investigations closing a portion of 84 Street Southeast.
A tragic single-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning near Calgary has resulted in the death of one individual. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. in the 7000 block of 84 Street Southeast, leading to the vehicle ending up in a large ditch off the east side of the road. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed that one person was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, with no additional injuries reported.
In response to the crash, both the Calgary Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were involved, particularly since 84 Street marks the eastern limits of Calgary. The area was cordoned off to allow for a thorough investigation by the traffic reconstruction team, which is standard protocol in fatal accident cases to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.
The shut down of 84 Street between 74 Avenue and 61 Avenue Southeast during the morning raised concerns about local traffic flow and disruptions in this busy industrial area. This collision highlights ongoing issues of road safety within and around Calgary, prompting potential discussions on traffic regulations and the need for preventive measures in vulnerable zones.
