A new theater is established in Helsinki

A new theater called Puotilan Kartanon Teatteri will replace the former Puotilan kesäteatteri in East Helsinki, ensuring the continuation of theater arts at the Puotila estate.

Ilta-Sanomat reports that the Puotilan kesäteatteri, which has been operating since 2014 in East Helsinki at the Puotila estate, is to close. However, this does not mean the end of theatrical activities at the estate, as a successor has been identified. The theater activities will now be overseen by Teatteriyhdistys Virne Ry, which plans to establish a new theater on the property known as Puotilan Kartanon Teatteri.

Matias Husgafvel, who will lead the new theater, has indicated that the new organization aims to innovate the theater practices at the Puotila estate while also keeping the established audience in mind. This summer, audiences can expect to see a musical play aimed at adults as well as a premiere production geared towards children. The programming for the new theater will be unveiled on March 4th, further enhancing the cultural offerings available in the Helsinki region.

The establishment of the new theater signals a continued commitment to the arts in East Helsinki, fostering local talent and providing a platform for creative expressions. It also highlights the revitalization of the Puotila estate, ensuring that it remains a vibrant cultural hub into the future.
