Gangster Sombir alias ‘Motta’ extradited from America arrested, has links with Lawrence Bishnoi gang
Indian gangster Sombir, also known as ‘Motta’, has been extradited from the USA and arrested by Haryana's Special Task Force for his connections with notorious gangs.
The Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has achieved a significant international success by extraditing and arresting notorious gangster Sombir, also known as ‘Motta’, from the United States. He is considered a key figure in the Lawrence Bishnoi and Kala Jathedi gangs and has been implicated in a total of 26 criminal cases, including murder, robbery, and violations of the Arms Act. These cases have been registered across Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan, and he had been evading the law while operating his gang's network from abroad.
Investigations revealed that Sombir had obtained a passport using a forged address in Ghaziabad, further assisting his ability to flee the country. After leaving India, he spent approximately four months in Dubai before arriving in the USA in September 2024. The Haryana STF had previously issued a Red Corner Notice against him in 2024, reflecting the seriousness of his criminal undertakings and flight from justice. Moreover, it has been established that Sombir is the biological brother of infamous gangster Anil Chhipi, underscoring a familial connection to organized crime in India.
The arrest of Sombir raises critical questions about transnational crime and the effectiveness of international cooperation in combating criminal networks. His alleged involvement with major gangs in India highlights ongoing issues of gang violence and organized crime within the country. With enforcement agencies focusing their efforts on dismantling such networks, this case serves as a reminder of the complex challenges faced in addressing organized crime that crosses borders, and the need for continued vigilance and collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
