An armed man died after crashing his motorcycle into a maintenance vehicle on the Rio-Niterói Bridge early Wednesday.

In the early hours of Wednesday, an armed man died on the Rio-Niterói Bridge after colliding his motorcycle with a maintenance vehicle. The incident occurred at the Central Span heading towards Niterói, during which the man was found in possession of rifle magazines, ammunition, and a grenade. His death was instantaneous as a result of the crash.

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) responded to the scene alongside the Bomb Squad due to the presence of the grenade, raising concerns about public safety in such situations. Traffic on the bridge was fully cleared by 1:30 AM, allowing for normal transit to resume shortly after the incident. The body of the deceased was transported to the Legal Medical Institute for identification purposes, as the police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mishap.

Authorities are now focused on identifying the man, who remains unknown, given that he was heavily armed at the time of the accident.
