Himos Resort files for bankruptcy
Himos Resort Oy has filed for bankruptcy, citing significant financial losses in recent years and a failure to achieve profitability.
Himos Resort Oy, established in 2008 and known for constructing and selling holiday cabins in Jämsä, Finland, has recently filed for bankruptcy. This decision comes after attempting corporate restructuring in 2023 and reporting a significant financial loss of approximately 214,782 euros on a reported revenue of 142,480 euros for the fiscal year that ended in autumn 2024. The bankruptcy application was submitted to the Central Finland District Court, and the company is also noted for having built a golf course in the area.
The bankruptcy highlights ongoing issues within the company that have plagued its financial health, ultimately leading to this drastic measure. In addition to constructing vacation homes, Himos Resort has been involved in property sales, which now also seems to be failing, contributing to its insolvency. The company’s inability to recover from losses and achieve stable profit margins has raised concerns about the future of its developments and local investments in the region.
At this stage, Iltalehti was unable to reach the company's management for comments regarding the bankruptcy filing, which could indicate internal challenges in managing their communications amidst the crisis. This development is particularly significant for the local economy in Jämsä, as such closures can impact employment and the sustainability of local tourism-related businesses dependent on Himos Resort’s operations.
