George Gerardos, the founder of the popular Plaisio chain in Greece, has passed away at the age of 80. Born in Paleo Faliro in 1946, he graduated as a Civil Engineer from the National Technical University of Athens. At just 23 years old, while still a student, he established Plaisio in a small shop dedicated to providing drawing materials for fellow students, which later expanded into a major retailer of technology products. Gerardos played a significant role in the growth of Plaisio, especially during its transition into the computer market, where demand surged leading to a rise in retail locations across Athens. In 1988, he established Plaisio Computers, transforming the company into its current form. Under his leadership, Plaisio grew rapidly, even being listed among the 500 fastest-growing businesses in Europe for eight consecutive years. Furthermore, in 2005, he expanded Plaisio's operations internationally by founding Plaisio Computers JSC in Bulgaria. His contributions have not only shaped the retail landscape in Greece but have also set a precedent for future entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
