SZ Series 'A Call to...': 'Shila Doesn't Listen to Anyone'
A family from Niedersachsen is facing a recurring issue as their cat Shila frequently rides trains without their knowledge, leading to amusing yet concerning situations.
On Monday, the Federal Police Directorate Bremen shared an unusual press release about a 'four-legged fare dodger' who was found aboard a regional train. The friendly cat, later identified as Shila, was provided with water by the authorities until it was returned to its owners, the Tock family from Niedersachsen. While many media outlets found humor in the story, the Tock family views it as a serious problem, indicating the challenges of owning an adventurous feline who enjoys train travel.
Carolin Tock, one of Shila's owners, shared her reaction upon receiving the call from the police asking her to retrieve her cat, expressing frustration at the recurring situation. She explained that Shila has a tendency to hop on trains in the region, often traveling towards Bremen or Nordenham. Unlike typical pets, Shila seems to have learned the routine of riding, sometimes getting off at the wrong station or waiting for the train to turn back, especially if distracted by treats from other passengers.
The repeated incidents raise questions about pet ownership responsibilities and the need for better measures to ensure that curious animals like Shila do not become lost or stranded during their escapades. The light-hearted reporting contrasts with the real concerns of pet safety in transit, highlighting a quirky yet serious aspect of life with a mischievous pet that continues to engage both local communities and authorities alike.
