In Wayanad, Kerala, the police have taken significant action in the kidnapping case of a four-year-old girl, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect identified as Chappali Jihas. The girl was reportedly kidnapped a few days before her recovery by the locals, who found her abandoned in a desolate area. The police have detailed the sequence of events following the suspect's arrest, indicating a comprehensive investigation was conducted to uncover the circumstances surrounding the case.

According to reports, the girl was playing in her home's courtyard on February 7 when the suspect abducted her, by taking her away on a scooter from the Pulikkad area of Manthanwadi. He subsequently left the girl about eight kilometers away in the Taruwana region and escaped. Local residents spotted the girl wandering alone around 9 PM and immediately informed the police. The police quickly arrived at the scene and returned the girl safely to her family, highlighting the community's role in her recovery.

Following the incident, the police established a special investigation team and commenced a thorough inquiry. They reviewed footage from several CCTV cameras in the vicinity, where one recording showed the suspect taking the girl on a scooter; however, his face was not clearly visible. Leveraging AI technology, the police utilized the captured images to enhance visibility and ultimately identify and apprehend the suspect, demonstrating the effectiveness of modern technology in resolving criminal cases.
