One year after the death of Sky... 'Mandatory installation of CCTV in school blind spots' passes through the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee
A legislative measure requiring the installation of CCTV in school blind spots has passed a significant step in South Korea's National Assembly, nearly a year after the murder of an elementary student.
The National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee in South Korea has passed a legislative proposal known as the 'Sky Law', which mandates the installation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) in blind spots within schools. This decision comes almost one year after the tragic murder of an elementary school student in Daejeon. During a meeting held on November 11, the committee voted in favor of an amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, with ten out of sixteen members supporting the measure. The amendment requires school principals to install CCTV in major locations determined under presidential decree, excluding classrooms from mandatory installation, although the possibility of classroom installation is not entirely ruled out depending on future regulations.
