Man who beat and suffocated woman with a chokehold in elevator is arrested; VIDEO
A man named Jonas de Oliveira has been arrested for violently assaulting a woman in an elevator in São Vicente, Brazil, with the incident captured on security footage.
Jonas de Oliveira, aged 32, has been apprehended after assaulting a 26-year-old woman in an elevator at a residential building in São Vicente, located in São Paulo's coastal region. The violent altercation occurred around 2:55 AM on Saturday, October 7, and the surveillance footage of the incident came to the attention of the authorities on October 10. The police, particularly from the Women's Defense Police Station, quickly acted upon the evidence, identifying and interviewing the involved parties shortly thereafter.
The violent events escalated from the assailant's apartment in the Itararé neighborhood to the elevator, indicating a severe level of aggression in a domestic context. Despite having an intimate relationship, the victim does not reside with the perpetrator, which adds layers of complexity to the relationship dynamics involved. Following the incident, police were alerted to Jonas' threatening messages to the victim, which prompted an immediate response.
Jonas was located at the same apartment where the violence had occurred and was arrested in the act of threatening the victim via text.
