Mps, Di Stefano resigns as advisor, investigated for insider trading

Stefano Di Stefano has resigned from his position at Mps amid an investigation into insider trading.

Stefano Di Stefano, who has been serving as a councilor at MPS since 2022 and is also one of the directors at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, has resigned from his non-independent administrator role effective immediately. The resignation comes amidst personal reasons and in light of an ongoing investigation into his alleged insider trading activities.

The investigation, initiated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office, focuses on Di Stefano's purchase of shares in MPS and Mediobanca, which he reportedly acquired during a significant operational transaction. This move raised suspicions of insider trading due to the timing and nature of these investments, amounting to around 120,000 euros, which reportedly yielded him a few thousand euros in profits.

The inquiry into Di Stefano's actions was led by Deputy Prosecutor Roberto Pellicano along with a team specializing in economic crimes. As the investigation unfolds, it could have significant implications for MPS and raise concerns about governance and compliance within the organization, shedding light on ethical conduct in financial markets as well as the oversight of corporate executives in Italy.
