In a dramatic revelation, hundreds of people treated for e-bike injuries at St Vincent Hospital in Sydney in 2025 highlighted a sharp rise in the number of serious incidents. Data shows that serious injuries related to e-bikes have doubled, with 10 percent of those injured requiring intensive care treatment. The increase is attributed to the fast-growing popularity of e-bikes, with sales soaring from 9,000 units in 2017 to around 200,000 by 2022, raising concerns about rider safety and public health.
