“Robots take over the supermarket” surprised employees... E-Mart robot store 'crowded'

A crowd gathered at the Electro Mart store in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, to witness a robot demonstration featuring humanoid and robotic dog robots, generating excitement among visitors.

On January 7th, a remarkable event took place at the Electro Mart located in Time Square, Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, where over 70 visitors gathered in anticipation of a robot demonstration set to begin at 1 PM. Families visiting the supermarket were visibly excited to witness the performance of humanoid robots and robotic dogs. As the demonstration commenced, children in the front row extended their hands towards the robotic dog, which mimicked the actions of a real dog, raising its paw and even jumping, eliciting awe and astonished reactions from both children and adults alike.

Electro Mart launched its robot store on January 30, offering a variety of 14 robot products, including the featured robots from the Chinese firm Unitree: the humanoid robot G1 and the quadruped Go2 robot. The G1 humanoid robot, standing at 127 centimeters tall, garnered attention for its boxing demonstration at the recent CES 2026 event, showcasing its advanced capabilities. The prices of robots available at the store range widely, from about 100,000 KRW to 31 million KRW, allowing for options that cater to different budgets.

Since its opening, Electro Mart has successfully sold 67 robots, including notable sales of the robotic dog priced at 3.99 million KRW and a Go chess robot at 1.58 million KRW. More affordable options like the Luna AI companion robot and AI keyring robots have also seen high demand, with the keyring robot selling out quickly. These developments at the robot store signify a growing interest in robotic technology in retail settings and its potential role in the future of shopping and customer interaction.
