Controlled Nuclear Escalation: What's Behind the War Game on Taiwan
The Heritage Foundation conducted a wargame simulation titled 'Azur Dragon' to explore potential nuclear escalation scenarios in a conflict over Taiwan, focusing on U.S.-China relations.
In October, the Heritage Foundation organized a tabletop exercise aimed at understanding the dynamics of a possible military confrontation in the Taiwan Strait, which involves a gradual escalation to nuclear conflict, dubbed 'Azur Dragon'. This exercise was a response to China's status as a significant challenge to U.S. strategic interests in the region. By using the TIDALWAVE model, driven by artificial intelligence, participants assessed various capabilities and strategic gaps in the U.S. response to a prolonged conflict with the People's Republic of China.
