'Quiet Sharing' at Jeonju City Hall Before the Holidays

An anonymous donor left a substantial amount of money at Jeonju City Hall to help low-income neighbors in need.

In Jeonju, South Korea, another 'hidden angel' has made a significant anonymous donation ahead of the holidays. On the 10th of this month, a citizen visited the social welfare department at Jeonju City Hall and handed a white envelope to an employee. Without revealing any personal information in response to inquiries from the staff, the donor left the premises swiftly. Despite attempts to follow the individual, the donor had already vanished. Upon checking the envelope, employees found it contained cash totaling 4.1 million won (approximately $3,000). It was later confirmed that this donor had also made a similar contribution last year around the same time, marking them as a consistent supporter of the community.

Jeonju City plans to allocate the anonymous donation of 4.1 million won through the Community Chest of Korea for the assistance of low-income families and those living in welfare blind spots in the Jeonju area. Officials expressed their gratitude towards the donor, highlighting that their act of 'nameless sharing' serves as a beacon of hope amidst the current economic challenges faced by the city's residents due to high inflation and recession. A city official remarked on the importance of anonymously caring for neighbors in distress, thanking the donor for their contributions over the years and promising that their warm-hearted support would be utilized effectively to improve the lives of the disadvantaged in Jeonju.
