Fire in a bus on E6 in Oslo

A bus caught fire on the E6 highway in Oslo early Wednesday morning, prompting traffic disruptions and emergency responses, but no injuries were reported.

On Wednesday morning around 6:02 AM, police in Oslo received reports of a bus fire on the E6 highway near Høybråten. Multiple passersby alerted the authorities after noticing smoke emanating from the bus, which was confirmed by the bus driver who reported flames in the engine compartment. The situation led to a temporary closure of the E6 towards Oslo while fire services responded to the incident.

By 6:26 AM, police announced the reopening of the left lane of the highway as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. Heavy rescue vehicles were deployed to assist with the fire management. Fortunately, there were no passengers aboard the bus at the time of the fire, as confirmed by Roy Langengen, the operations leader of the Oslo police. The bus driver was assessed by ambulance personnel at the scene and was reported to be unharmed.

Amid the smoke drifting towards Høybråten, authorities advised residents nearby to keep their windows closed to avoid inhaling potentially harmful smoke. This incident highlights the importance of emergency response protocols on busy highways and the need for public awareness regarding safety during fire emergencies, especially in densely populated urban areas like Oslo.
