A 34-year-old man was arrested in Quissamã, Brazil, for attempting to collect a package containing counterfeit money at a Correios postal agency.
In Quissamã, located in the Northern Fluminense region of Brazil, a 34-year-old man was arrested by federal police after he tried to withdraw a package that contained counterfeit currency. The operation was initiated due to suspicious activity related to the delivery of fake banknotes in the area, prompting the Federal Police (PF) to monitor the local postal agency where the package was expected to be picked up.
The PF had identified unusual transactions associated with the sending of counterfeit bills to Quissamã, which led to heightened scrutiny at the Correios agency. When the suspect arrived to collect his delivery, PF agents confronted him and discovered that the package contained R$ 900 in counterfeit currency. His actions were swiftly considered a criminal offense under Brazil's Penal Code.
Following his arrest, the individual was taken to the Federal Police station in Macaé for processing. He now faces charges for the acquisition and possession of counterfeit money, which could lead to significant legal repercussions as the police investigate the extent of the counterfeit operation he may be involved in.
